Empowering communities through quality technical education since 2009.
Credit is a kind of weightage given to the contact periods to teach the prescribed syllabus, which is in a modular form. For courses, one credit is allocated to one contact period for theory/tutorial per week and one credit is allocated to 2 contact periods for practical.

A student who has fulfilled the following conditions shall be deemed to have satisfied the requirements for completion of a semester:
Ideally every student is expected to attend all classes of all the courses and secure 100% attendance. However, in order to make provision for certain unavoidable reasons such as medical issues or participation in sports, the student is expected to attend at least 75% of the classes. Therefore, he/she shall secure not less than 75% (after rounding off to the nearest integer) of overall attendance for each semester.
A student who secures overall attendance between 65% and 74% in the current semester due to medical reasons (prolonged hospitalization, accident, or specific illness) or participation in sports events may be permitted to appear for the current semester examinations, subject to submitting a valid medical certificate or sports participation certificate attested by the Head of the Institution.
Students who secure less than 65% overall attendance shall not be permitted to write the end semester examination and are not permitted to move to the next semester. They are required to repeat the incomplete semester in the next academic year, as per the prescribed norms.
Candidates who have earned more than 50% attendance but fall short of the basic requirement of 65% attendance (in all subjects of the current semester put together) shall be permitted to proceed to the next semester only once during the course of study, by considering all the papers in that semester as absent. For such candidates, by default, the class shall be Second class upon successful passing of the course.
Performance in each course of study shall be evaluated for a maximum of 100 marks based on one of the following:
Continuous assessment shall be carried out for 100 marks (summation of multiple CAs) for all types of courses and converted to 40 marks.
Every subject shall have its own framework for continuous assessment designed by the course committee and approved by the academic board as part of the curriculum. The continuous assessment shall be awarded as per the assessment proposed in the respective syllabi.
For 1 credit courses and Advanced Skill Certification programs, no end semester examination shall be conducted, and the final grade will be awarded based on continuous assessment only.
The End Semester examination will be conducted for 100 marks and shall be converted to 60 marks in the final evaluation. End Semester Examinations (Theory, Practical, Project) of three hours duration will be conducted. For practicum courses, the end-semester examination may be conducted as a theory, practical, or project examination based on the credits for each component. The mode of exam shall be decided by the internal committee with the approval of the Head of Department.
Every practical exercise/experiment shall be evaluated based on conduct and record. Students must submit record work duly completed and signed by the faculty in charge and the Head of the Department. For project works, the Department will constitute a three-member faculty committee to monitor progress and conduct reviews regularly.
For in-house projects, students must obtain a bona fide certificate from the project guide and Head of Department to appear for Viva Voce. Industry projects require an additional external mentor/supervisor along with regular faculty supervision. Final evaluation will be based on the report submitted by the project group (max four students) and viva voce conducted by an external examiner.

Students unable to complete project work at the end of the semester can apply for a maximum two-month extension to the Head of Department with recommendation from the project guide. Viva Voce will be conducted and results declared separately. Students failing to submit project reports even after extension will not be eligible for Viva Voce. Students indulging in malpractice in any examinations will be liable for punitive action.
A student who secures at least 40% of total marks (Internal Assessment + End Semester) with a minimum of 35% in the End Semester shall be declared to have passed and acquired credits. Internal assessment marks are retained for subsequent attempts. Elective courses follow similar rules. Courses assessed purely through internal assessment require 50% to pass. Revaluation is permitted for theory exams only; laboratory and elective courses are excluded.
Students failing theory/laboratory courses (except electives) shall appear only for the End Semester examination in the subsequent semester. Internal marks from the first attempt are retained. From the third attempt onwards, if a student fails, a minimum of 35% in End Semester alone is sufficient to pass. For electives, internal marks are retained until a pass is secured; failure beyond the third attempt also allows passing with minimum 35% in End Semester.
If a student opts for a different elective, previous registration is canceled and considered a new course. Students must attend classes, earn continuous assessment marks, fulfill attendance requirements, and appear for End Semester exams.
Absence during Viva Voce is considered a fail. Failure in project work requires re-registration in the subsequent semester. Courses assessed purely via internal assessment require 50% to pass. Students may apply for revaluation for theory courses through the COE; revaluation is not permitted for laboratory or elective courses.
The award of letter grades will be decided using the relative grading principle. The performance of a student will be reported using letter grades, each carrying certain points as detailed below:
| Letter Grade | Grade Points* | Marks |
|---|---|---|
| O (Outstanding) | 10 | 91-100 |
| A+ (Excellent) | 9 | 81-90 |
| A (Very Good) | 8 | 71-80 |
| B+ (Good) | 7 | 61-70 |
| B (Average) | 6 | 51-60 |
| C (Satisfactory) | 5 | 40-50 |
| RA (Re-Appearance) | 0 | <40 |
| SA (Shortage of Attendance) | 0 | 0 |
| W (Withdrawal) | 0 | 0 |
A student is deemed to have passed and acquired the corresponding credits in a particular course if he/she obtains any one of the following grades: “O”, “A+”, “A”, “B+”, “B”, “C”.
SA denotes shortage of attendance and prevents writing the end semester exam; it will appear only in the result sheet. RA denotes that the student has failed to pass the course, and W denotes withdrawal from the exam. RA and W will appear both in the Grade Sheet and Result Sheet. In both cases, the student must appear for the End Semester Examinations as per regulations.
If RA is given to Theory/Laboratory courses, attendance is not required, but the student must appear for the end semester examination and fulfill the norms to earn a pass. For courses evaluated only through internal assessment, the student must register for the course again in the subsequent semester to earn a pass; attendance requirement is not needed.
For Audit Courses and Integrated Learning Experiences, a “completed” remark will appear on successful completion. Students must have minimum 75% attendance in Integrated Learning Experience. The Head of the Institution may grant exemption or allow completion later for valid reasons. Completion of certain Integrated Learning Experiences is compulsory for diploma award.
Grades O, A+, A, B+, B, C obtained for one/two credit courses not part of the curriculum will appear under “Value Added Courses/Internship/Industrial Training” in the Grade Sheet. Courses with RA or SA grades will not appear. Audit Courses with satisfied attendance will be listed in the Grade Sheet; otherwise, they will not be mentioned.
